The apartment is the part of the wedding nobody photographs, and the part you live in every day afterwards.
Before the wedding
Dining table and chairs, beds, a sofa, and the kitchen basics. Dishes, pots, linens and silver. Everything else is negotiable.
What to borrow instead of buy
Check the gemachs first for centerpieces, tableware for the yomim tovim, and anything you need for one occasion only. A gemach is not a compromise; it is what the community built for exactly this.
What can wait
Shelving, artwork, a second sofa, and anything decorative. You will know what you actually want after three months of living there.
Movers and setup
Book movers for a weekday morning and confirm the elevator rules in your building in advance. If you need furniture assembled or a mirror mounted, arrange it for the week you move in rather than the week of the wedding.
Our after the wedding directory lists movers, apartment brokers, kallah and chosson teachers and gemachs by city.
